SS Trikes Wins Ingenuity Award at J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in Chicago

The Progressive International Motorcycle Show hosted the Chicago round of the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show where SS Trikes took home the coveted Ingenuity Award.

February 24, 2017 - At the conclusion of the largest custom bike show series in America, the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show, SS Trikes won the coveted Ingenuity Award for their big-wheel, big-tire trike.

The Ingenuity Award is given to the builder who provides the greatest innovation to his or her build. The judges at the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder found the S&S X-Wedge powered trike to be unique in design and style.

The J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder is an elite-level custom motorcycle builder competition featuring more than 350 motorcycles and the largest tour-wide awards in the U.S., totaling over $100,000 in cash and prizes. The competition ran through all seven IMS shows.

“I want to thank all the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show team for hosting the show and allowing me to showcase the SS Trike technology,” explained Jason Nieman, president. “I enjoyed the unbelievable number of enthusiasts who talked to me about our Big-Wheel trike and enjoyed the results of what we put our heart and soul into.”

The trike is filled with innovation. It's constructed like a race car and features a 2-speed automatic transmission with lockup torque converter, large displacement S&S 117ci engine, shaft drive, large custom wheel and inverted front suspension.

The SS Trike is designed to accommodate comfortably a variety of enthusiasts from 5’ to 6’2” tall. In just 5 minutes or so, an enthusiast can select two different seat heights and three different foot control locations.

The custom production trike is available in primary colors. Additional options include graphics, Wire-Plus digital speedo, air-ride suspension, a solo seat with enclosed trunk, multiple trim treatments and a black or polished engine.

About SS Trikes: SS Trikes are designed and manufactured in Rudolph, Wi by a team headed up by Jason Nieman. SS Trikes, http://sstrikes.com , are known for their design, which is derived from Mattel’s Big Wheel trikes from the 1970’s. The automatic SS Trike is in production and delivering Trikes. Each trike is built to the customer’s personal taste and is delivered within 90 days of receiving the order. The SS Trike resembles the classic “Big Wheel” Chopper-style design that we all rode as a kid, which is sure to put a smile on your face no matter how old a kid you are.

Check out http://www.officialbikeweek.com/ for particulars

Daytona Beach is located on the central East Coast of Florida. It is 88 miles south of Jacksonville and 60 miles northeast of Orlando. Bike Week centers around the Daytona 200 motorcycle race and a variety of motorcycle racing events and shows at the Daytona International Speedway as well as activities throughout the area. In 2005, an estimated 500,000 - 600,000 people came for Bike Week. They stay in hotels, motels, condominiums, and at campgrounds throughout the county.

The Speedway offers a full week of racing excitement including the BMW "Legends of Racing", dirt track races, the Daytona Supercross by Honda, the Harley-Davidson TwinSports, 600cc SuperSport International Challenge and the Daytona 200 by Arai. Other events include the Harley-Davidson Museum, indoor show and Dresser Light Show, and several other motorcycle shows including vintage and custom bikes, European & Japanese motorcycles, sidecars and trikes. There are concerts, fashion shows, technical seminars and demo rides. You can join in a Poker Run, go to a motorcycle swap meet, learn how to "Stud Your Duds," or enjoy one of the several free bar-b-ques.

While visiting here, the cyclists travel north to St. Augustine, south to the Kennedy Space Center and west to Orlando and even Tampa. However, one of the biggest activities of Bike Week is watching the other people and their machines, especially on Main Street in Daytona Beach.

Maria Leijerstam - WORLD RECORD - first person to cycle across Antarctica to the South Pole.
Maria Leijerstam - WORLD RECORD - first person to cycle across Antarctica to the South Pole.

Tricycle Race Across South Pole

Three people were competing in a bike race from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole. The winner will be the first person to bike there ever. And 35-year-old Maria Leijerstam is attempting to trike there on a really weird/badass-looking tricycle.

Leijerstam left the Novo Russian Airbase on December 17th 2013 on a recumbent tricycle by the British design group Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE).

Biking against two competitors with traditional bikes, Juan Mendez and Daniel Burton, she's hoping that her three fat wheels will provide stability and better traction during the grueling 400 mile, low temperature ride.

Leijerstam tested the aircraft-grade steel trike in Siberia, Norway, Iceland and industrial freezers to make sure it was going to be reliable on her intense South Pole ride.

The former student from Plymouth University has made it into the record books by becoming the first person to cycle across Antarctica to the South Pole. Maria Leijerstam completed the trip in just ten days, riding a bike specially designed for her in Cornwall. The British adventure racer and race organiser took 10 days over Xmas to cycle 400 miles across the ice on her specially built recumbent trike.

Elio Motors' latest prototype ready for HVAC testing in Seattle

Three-wheeled high-MPG vehicles are slated to debut by next year.

Elio Motors' plans to test a vehicle prototype's air-conditioning and heating systems have us wondering how 110-degree temperatures are going to be simulated in the perpetually brisk Pacific Northwest. The three-wheeled vehicle startup is having Seattle-based RedDOT Corp. make its HVAC systems, and has shipped one of its E-Series testing and engineering vehicles to the Emerald City. The trike will be tested there for heating, air-conditioning, and ventilation.

Elio is running way behind schedule (it had initially earmarked 2014 for its debut), but continues to move forward and has built about two-dozen vehicles strictly for testing purposes. For instance, some vehicles are being tested in Michigan for their anti-lock braking systems. In Seattle, the vehicle in question will undergo temperatures ranging from 0 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

The automaker, which was founded in 2009, has most recently estimated that the vehicle will start sales some time next year. The three-wheeler gets up to 84 miles per gallon and will be priced at $7,300 for holders of non-refundable reservations (the price had previously been listed at about $6,800). About 56,000 people had lined up as of last month.

This summer, Elio received some good news when it was determined that 41 out of the 50 US states won't require customers to obtain a motorcycle license to drive the trikes. Elio itself was able to get 30 of those states to change their stance and ease requirements for driving the vehicle, which has airbags, seat belts, and a steering wheel, in addition to those heating and air-conditioning systems. The company also completed its fourth and final design stage this spring. Elio's higher-end E1C will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The world believes U.S. innovation and vehicle manufacturing is dead, and unfortunately a lot of Americans agree. Should we wave the white flag and let more jobs leave our shores? In 2009 Paul Elio said no, and Elio Motors was born.

·       Over 76% of Americans drive solo to work everyday

·       There are over 90 million old clunkers on the road today averaging less than 20 MPG

WHY ELIO?

·       U.S. made by American workers at the former GM plant in Shreveport, Louisiana

·       Designed targeting utilization of 90% North American content.

·       A collaboration of the finest automobile suppliers in the world

·       Led by the 'Who’s Who' of the transportation industry

·       Simple, ingenious innovation using current technology. Its about time.

Can-Am Spyder F3 Turbo Concept is a 150 hp three-wheeler

Turbochargers equal performance these days. Can-Am's Spyder F3 Turbo Concept shows that forced induction works just as well on three wheels as it does on four – or two for that matter. This trike packs a turbo version of the standard F3's 1,330cc three-cylinder Rotax engine with 150 horsepower and 137 pound-feet of torque. Those are useful upgrades over the stock machine's 115 hp and 96 lb-ft. The added boost can get the three-wheeler to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and across the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds, Can-Am claims.

In addition to the extra power, the F3 Turbo Concept boasts a three-into-three Akrapovic exhaust to make it sound the part, and Fox shocks to sharpen the handling. Slick tires keep things planted, at least when the rider hasn't engaged the Sport Mode that lets the rear end slide.

The aggressive styling and bright yellow paint don't let this concept blend in. The trike has a gaping mouth and big front splitter. Above the grille, there's also a second intake and LED lights. Sadly, Can-Am's clip doesn't offer a great opportunity to hear the turbocharged engine sing. Still, it looks cool, and it's got more than enough performance to keep its rider happy.

“Bad Jokes are not bad – they are just politically incorrect” – Raymond Hamilton

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do.

"Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?"

The blonde said, "How about 50 dollars?"

The man agreed and told her that the paint and ladders that she might need were in the garage. The man's wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, "Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?"

The man replied, "She should. She was standing on the porch."

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already?" he asked.

"Yes," the blonde answered, "and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats.

"Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50.

"And by the way," the blonde added, "that's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."

A father was trying to teach his young son the evils of alcohol. He put one worm in a glass of water and another worm in a glass of whiskey. The worm in the water lived, while the one in whiskey curled up and died.

"All right, son." asked the father, "what does that show you?"

"Well, Dad, it shows that if you drink alcohol, you will not have worms."

Alcoholic Pick Up Lines

"Girl, this isnt a beer belly, its a fuel tank for my love machine!

Here is $30. Drink until I am really good looking, then come to talk to me.

Your one tall glass of Labatts Blue and I'm real thirsty.

Girl, I would buy you a drink but I'd be jealous of the glass.

"Baby, you put the 'hot ass' in my shot glass.

I'm not drunk, I'm just intoxicated by you.

(After spilling a beer on a pretty lady) Did you just take a shower or is it me that's making you wet?

Hey, you owe me a drink. I dropped mine when you walked past.

Resident Hippie Raymond Hamilton says:

On hearing that his elderly grandfather had just passed away, Raymond Hamilton went straight to his grandparent's house to visit his 95 year old grandmother and comfort her.

When he asked how his grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning."

Horrified, Raymond told her grandmother that two people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.

"Oh no, my dear, " replied granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong."

She paused, wiped away a tear and then continued, "And if that damned ice cream truck hadn't come along, he'd still be alive today!"

Raymond Hamilton thinks freethinkers are called hippies. And bikers are freethinkers.

Therefore, he wants to bike to the beach wearing a rainbow. I tried to talk him out of it. He wore a Rainbow Patch on a Leather Jacket and rode his Harley-Davidson onto the local beach. Suddenly three women came up and asked him if he was alright. Raymond replied, “I am okay, why do you ask?”

They told him, “You are riding a motorcycle on a sandy beach under the hot sun wearing a leather jacket. It must be exhausting.”

“No, not at all dear” says Raymond Hamilton, “I am wearing nothing else and the bike ain’t even mine. It belongs to a nice group of fellas who call themselves Angels.”

Raymond Hamilton is currently recovering at an ICU with prescribed marijuana for pain relief.
